Lili La Scala

I was a member of the three man team that constructed this costume over two days.

Designed by Jema Hewitt (Kindred Spirit Bridal Originals) and worn by Lili la Scala in the 2012 Edinburgh Fringe Show “Another F*cking Variety Show“.

The dress is made up of one purple and one green spiral that run uninterrupted from the top to the bottom of the dress. It has a pleated collar and three quarter length sleeves that also have pleated and gathered fabric detail on the cuffs and are fastened with covered buttons and rouleau loops. The dress is laced up the back with a bow above the kick flounce.
It is lined with drill to give it extra strength and boned with steels through the body and rigiline all the way down the length of the dress to help the dress maintain it’s highly fitted shape.
The sleeves are padded with light weight netting to maintain the unusual shaping at the shoulder.
The hat is a miniature tricorn, it was made by Emma Brackenbury who was also involved in the construction of the dress.
